Aubrey had to go to the emergency room last night. What a great way to spend our baby's one month "birthday!"
She was fine all day and then about 6 o'clock pm she started wetting her diapers A LOT! I'm talking like 3 or 4 diapers filled with pee every hour so we called the pediatrician on call and she told us to take her to the E.R. so we did.
When we got there it took them forever to see her. We had a nurse who could barely speak English and the doctor didn't act like she knew what to do. They decided to put a bag in her diaper to catch her urine but it didn't work so they decided to draw some blood. That was horrible! I had to leave the room because I couldn't watch.
When I came back in I knew where she was because I could hear her crying and Alex was mad. Apparently the nurse had screwed up and dropped her tube of blood on the floor, having to start over. They then decided to take some urine through a catheter and Alex again went with her for that. When he came back he told me it didn't even phase her. She never even made a peep. So then we waited.
They came back and said her urine was fine and her blood was fine for things like diabetes but her iron was lower than they would like it to be so they decided to keep her. I didn't think that would happen so of course I stayed with her. They took her upstairs to the pediatrics ward and monitored her all night.
I slept in the most uncomfortable chair ever and Aubrey was basically behind bars in a metal baby crib. Alex went home for the night because there was no place for him to sleep and I have to admit I was a little annoyed because he seemed so willingly to go.
The next day they decided to let her go home and it started snowing very hard. It hardly snowed the whole winter and when we get a couple of weeks from Spring it snows terrible. Story of my life!
By the time Aubrey was able to go home it was snowing pretty bad and it took Alex a while to get there but he did. We then had to go to my appointment for my gallbladder at another hospital and by the end of the we just wanted to go home.
They did decide that my gallbladder needed to go so that will be coming out in March.
My poor little Aubrey. She still had the IV in her arm. ]:
